Fourth grade is a bridge year from elementary to middle school. A lot of social-emotional and academic growth happens in fourth grade.
Our Math curriculum explores place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions, decimals, and geometry. Our Reading program Journeys introduces students to a wide variety of literature. We also incorporate several novels that are introduced in our textbook. Our Social Studies curriculum covers The United States and its region. In Science, we cover a unit of physical, earth, and life science. Our social-emotional curriculum, Second Step includes empathy and skills for learning, emotion management, and problem solving. In addition, we have a bullying prevention unit.
A few highlights of 4th grade include our Celebrate America project! Students are also able to start participating in band and orchestra in 4th grade. Additionally, we also celebrate various cultural heritage months and influential people of diverse backgrounds.
